MUSIC FESTIVAL

-

St Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Janakpuri, hosted a musical festival titled Crescendo. The festival featured 300 students from the middle classes in a gamut of music and dance performances.the event began with the Indian classical music, followed by a solfege, and then some contemporary dance performances on medleys of Bollywood and international soundtracks were presented. Thereafter, a fusion of Indian dances such as ghoomar, salsa, break dance, thumri, and bhangra were presented on peppy tracks. Then, an instrumental track was played with an idea to set the ball rolling with slower, non-lyrical tunes, and gradually it moved to faster beats, to build the crescendo. Subsequently, the pinnacle was reached with the performance on electronic dance music, or EDM, the music of the millennials. The event displayed the power of music as it crosses all territorial boundaries and unites all across religious beliefs, races, and politics. It also helps us experience our common humanity. The Crescendo was an enriching and rejuvenating experience for the students as well as the audience.

The chairman of St Mark’s group of schools, TP Aggarwal, and principal Alka Kher attended the event. School director Anjali Aggarwal was welcomed by Alka Kher. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by headmistress of the school Inderpreet Ahluwalia.
