NEWDELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused the AAP of spreading anarchy in Delhi and demanded that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, too, be booked in the chief secretary assault case.

BJP’S Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari on Thursday said that because the ‘assault’ on chief secretary Anshu Prakash took place in the presence of Kejriwal and Sisodia, “same sections should be slapped on both AAP leaders”.

“The entire ‘episode’ took place in front of CM and deputy CM of Delhi. So, they should be included in the investigation process and charged with the same sections. If the matter is proven to be correct, then they should be suspended as our Constitution does not validate violence,” Tiwari said.

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against AAP MLA from Okhla Amanatullah Khan and others on Tuesday for alleged assault on Anshu Prakash.

Tiwari said the attack was premeditated and also questioned the presence of ‘disqualified MLAS’ during the meeting with chief secretary at Kejriwal’s residence on Monday night.

The BJP leader, also an MP from northeast Delhi, said Prakash was assaulted because he had refused to give clearance to government advertisement declaring that the corruption has gone down in Delhi by 80 per cent during AAP’S rule.

“Theaapgovernmentwanted to issue false advertisement on reduction of corruption. The chief secretary as the administrative head refused to give his consent because he could be held responsible for false declaration. Therefore he was dragged and beaten,” Tiwari said.

On Thursday, BJP workers staged protests outside Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s residence and at several other locations including Patel Nagar, Moti Nagar, Tilak Nagar, and Sadar Bazar against the alleged assault. BJP workers also burnt effigies of Kejriwal and Sisodia at Patel Nagar.

“The AAP is encouraging urban naxalism. The CM himself wanted to spread lies. He is claiming that corruption has gone down while the vigilance department has an adverse report. Kejriwal is responsible for anarchy, hence he should resign,” said Rajesh Bhatia, Delhi BJP general secretary, who was leading the demonstration at Patel Nagar.
