NEWDELHI: The Delhi Police are yet to identify people who allegedly assaulted Delhi environment minister, Imran Hussain and his staff, Rana Markandey Singh alias Himanshu at the Delhi secretariat on Tuesday even as AAP leaders released a video identifying the three alleged attackers on Thursday.

Police officials said they were yet to obtain the CCTV footage of to the alleged attack on the minister and his staff.

“We have sent two notices to the Delhi administration in the last two days, seeking video footage. But they have not provided it to us,” said Mandeep Singh Randhawa, deputy commissioner of police (central).

Hussain, who alleged that he and Himanshu were attacked by a mob of over 100 people at the Delhi secretariat on Wednesday, have also sought L-G’S intervention in this matter. The party even released the medico-legal case report of Himanshu, showing a bruised back.

On Thursday, AAP leaders released the video in which Delhi government employees-- Amit Khatri from general administration department and Ravinder Parmar, of urban development department and three others named as Sandeep Suhaag, Saini and Sonu —were identified as alleged attackers.

“Police have acted on a complaint by Anshu Prakash without any witness or evidence. But police have not acted on the complaint by our minister despite having a video footage,” said AAP leader Ashutosh.

Randhawa said Hussain refused to undergo medical examination, saying he did not receive injuries. Himanshu’s medical examination was done and its report has been obtained for investigation, he added.

An FIR was registered at the IP Estate police station on the AAP legislator’s complaint on Tuesday, the day when an assault case was registered on chief secretary Anshu Prakash’s complaint and AAP legislator Prakash Jarwal was arrested. Another AAP MLA, Amanatullah Khan, whom Prakash named in his complaint, was arrested on Wednesday.

On the allegations of AAP leaders that police are not showing seriousness in Hussain’s case, Delhi Police chief spokesperson, Dependra Pathak, said, “We promptly registered an FIR on the AAP MLA’S complaint. Since the legislator did not name anybody in the complaint and the CCTV footage has not been provided, our role is focused on identifying the attackers.”

A police officer associated with the case said the footage will be sent to forensic labs to confirm it was not ‘doctored’. Police said they were also in the process of obtaining the mobile videos in which the assault on Hussain and Himanshu was captured and some people were heard shouting “maro-maro”.
