Property dealer ‘shoots self’ in Nirankari Colony

NEWDELHI: A 46-year-old property dealer allegedly shot himself dead in his car using a countrymad­e pistol at the Nirankari Colony ground in north Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the man, identified as Raj Kumar Arora, was in depression because of losses in his business and financial crisis.

Before taking the extreme step, Arora had updated his Whatsapp status in Hindi by writing “Alvida Bhaiyon” (Goodbye friends), police said.

Harendra Kumar Singh, deputy commission­er of police (north), said the police control room received a call at 12.45 pm regarding a man who was found unconsciou­s in a car with a pistol lying near him. A police team reached and found him on the driver’s seat in an I-10 car.

A bullet injury was found in his head. One countrymad­e pistol and two mobile phones were found with him,” the additional DCP said, adding the injured man was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital from where his relatives shifted him to a private hospital.

He succumbed to the bullet injury at the private hospital. Police said the bullet entry mark was found on the right side of the head. The bullet exit wound was found on the left side.
