Plan your travel: Avoid RTR Marg, Delhi Cantt, NH8 today

NEWDELHI: Delhi traffic police on Sunday advised citizens to look at their traffic advisory and plan their travel in advance on Monday, specially those going to the airport due to the possibilit­y of traffic jams that could occur as heads of states and foreign signatorie­s leave for airport after attending the Internatio­nal Solar Alliance Summit.

Traffic police have advised students, who are appearing for board exams to plan well in advance and leave for their examinatio­n venue with extra time in hand.

Several areas in Delhi had witnessed heavy congestion between Friday and Sunday, when VVIPS had begun to come into the Capital to attend the summit.

Traffic snarls were reported on RTR Marg, Delhi Cantonment, Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent and NH-8.

In its advisory, the traffic police have marked 13 roads, which commuters have been advised to avoid on Monday.

“After attending the summit on Sunday, the heads of various countries will be reaching the airport on Monday from various hotels and other places to finally depart for their countries. To ensure their smooth passage, traffic will be restricted or diverted on certain roads,” said a traffic police official.

Feroze Shah Road, Janpath, Akbar Road, Teen Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Shanti Path, Sardal Patel Marg, Gurgaon Road up to RTR Flyover, Parade Road, Thimayya Road, Dwarka Road, Tunnel Road and Central Spine Road are the areas that have been advised to avoid.

Alternativ­e routes have been suggested by the traffic police that commuters may use.

One such route is Ring RoadMathur­a Road-lodi Road-aurobindo MARG-AIIMS ChowkRing Road towards Dhaula Kuan.

In addition, commuters can also use the stretch from Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, Park Street, Baba Kharak Singh Marg to reach Connaught Place.

A third alternativ­e route is Ring ROAD-I.P.MARG-DDU Marg -Minto Road to reach Connaught Place or New Delhi Railway Station. Traffic police have also advised citizens to use Delhi Metro for commuting.
