PHD awards for Indian students
NEWDELHI: London-based Coventry University has announced the ‘Coventry-india Research Awards’ to support young Indians to study at the university.
These PHD scholarships are aimed at high achieving Indian graduates who are seeking a career in research. Members of Coventry University’s senior leadership team are visiting a range of institutions across India this month to establish new research partnerships and extend opportunities for students.
A team of 10 senior academics, led by Professor Richard Dashwood, deputy vice-chancellor for research, and Dr David Pilsbury, deputy vice-chancellor for international development, will meet representatives from 38 organisations in 13 cities across India – including universities, companies and government bodies.
The university is looking to apply innovative new approaches to the development of joint research centres, doctoral training centres and PHD programmes with Indian universities.
The visit will also explore new models in the delivery of joint degrees with Indian universities and also student recruitment opportunities.
Coventry University already has significant partnerships with institutions in almost 40 countries around the world.
Among the institutions visited by the university representatives are Nirma University and National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, Christ University and Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bangalore, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Centre for Policy Research, TERI University, and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Delhi.
Some of the University centres inviting applications for PHD are the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience, Centre for Advances in Behavioural Science, Centre for the Built and Natural Environment.
