NEWDELHI: Amid speculation that the Class 12 accountancy question paper might have been leaked, students and parents suffered a nightmare on Thursday worrying about what’s in store.

When Saumya Jain of Rohini’s Mount Abu Public School came out of her exam centre, she had an easy 90+ score in mind and was happy with the “moderately easy” question paper. However, the satisfaction of a good performance was cut short when she met her mother Anu Jain, who broke the news that the question paper had been leaked.

“If the paper was actually leaked, then it will be a blunder. Studying with the same tempo is very difficult. A re-examination will be unjust for the future of students like me, who have worked hard throughout the academic session,” said Saumya, who is a topper in her batch.

Despite CBSE denying reports of the question paper being leaked, students and parents continued to live in confusion throughout the day with many blaming Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia for sending a “false alarm”.

“If somebody like Manish Sisodia, the education minister, is tweeting about the paper leak then people would obviously consider it to be true. We all were in panic and confused after the exams,” said Ojas Kaneja of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya.

On the one hand, the minister asked the DOE to probe and lodge a complaint and on the other, the CBSE denied it by saying that all question papers were sealed, he said. Like Kaneja, the students HT spoke to said they learnt about the leaked paper only after they came out of the exam centres.

Another student of Sardar At least 10 pages of a question paper were floating on Whatsapp. The CBSE paper ran around 27 pages with 23 questions. He also asked his officials to launch a probe and lodge a complaint with CBSE.

Patel Vidyalaya said that his friends were claiming that there might have been offers to buy images of the question papers a night before the exam. However, when this reporter asked him if he knew anyone who had received such an offer, he denied it by saying “it is what people are talking.”

“Apparently, I have heard that some students had prior information about the pattern of the question paper. For example, a question carrying eight marks and that too from chapters 1 and 6 — which is highly unlikely — was asked this year,” the student said.

Despite the CBSE ruling out a re-examination, parents were worried. “All this is happening in the middle of the Board exams; this will only put pressure on the The police could not trace the caller. CBSE, in its statement, has only clarified that all seals were found intact at the exam centres.

students. When Sisodia tweeted confirming about the paper being leaked, it broke my heart thinking about my child. But, thankfully, the CBSE has denied it,” said Anu Jain, mother of Saumya.

The controversy was no less a hassle for the teachers, who were bombarded by queries from anxious parents. Renu Rajwardhan from DPS Mathura Road said that it was a well-balanced paper that had clarity of language. “There was no need for assumptions. the questions were very clear. Students were left with no doubt as to what they are supposed to answer. Though some students said the paper was lengthy, overall it was a good paper,” she said.

She said that she had come to know of the alleged leak around noon, when she saw certain media reports online. “I was feeling very disappointed at the time, because the paper was so good and I knew my students would have done well,” she said.

Neelam Gupta of Ahlcon International School said that she only found out about the alleged leak after the exam when somebody messaged her on Whatsapp. “I have no idea about all this. I know the paper was good and balanced,” she said.
