ACCORDING TO A LIST CIRCULATED BY AAP, THERE ARE 22 HEARINGS IN DIFFERENT CASES THAT KEJRIWAL HAS TO APPEAR FOR BETWEEN MARCH 5 AND APRIL 10

NEWDELHI: Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said he would reach out to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in Punjab, within hours of the party’s two senior most leaders in the state resigning from their posts.

AAP’S Punjab unit chief and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann and MLA Aman Arora resigned after party chief Arvind Kejriwal tendered a written apology to former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia while settling a criminal defamation case.

In the run-up to the Punjab assembly elections last year, Kejriwal had accused Majithia of being involved in the drug trade in the state. Sisodia denied a rift in the party. “Everything is fine. There is no rift (within the party), all are together. We will talk to everyone (the ones who resigned and those who are protesting) and they will understand.”

Sisodia said Kejriwal apologised and settled the case to end one of the many court battles he is fighting. According to a list circulated by the party’s social media team, there are 22 hearings in different cases that Kejriwal has to appear for between March 5 and April 10. The Delhi chief minister is facing defamation cases filed by Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, Congress leader Pawan Khera and Amit Sibal, the son of former Union minister Kapil Sibal “We are fighting for the people. We will fight for citizens in courts but not for such cases (personal cases against AAP leaders). If we spend time in courts for our own cases then when will we take out time for public issues?” Sisodia said.
