Gandhi alleged that the “corrupt and powerful today control conversati­on” in the country and the “name Modi symbolises the collusion between crony capitalist­s” and the prime minister. “Modi is not fighting corruption but is corruption himself,” he said. According to data from travel website Yatra.com, New DelhiMumba­i economy class tickets surged to ₹15,797-₹29,644 (for the cheapest and most expensive tickets) on March 13 for the same day, while that for Delhi-kolkata it was ₹6,117-₹18,825.

Regular non-peak season economy fares are ₹5,000-₹8,000 for Delhi-mumbai and ₹6,000-₹8,000 for Delhi-kolkata.

A Delhi-mumbai ticket is expected to cost ₹4,807-₹17,797 for flights on March 19 while that of Delhi-kolkata is expected to be ₹5,857-₹25,561, shows the data. “There was a huge surge during one or two days (March 13-14) as there were many (flight) cancellati­on,” said Yatra’s chief operating officer (business to consumer) Sharat Dhall.
