GURGAON: The girl who was killed in Sidhrawali village, some 30km from Gurgaon along the DelhiJaipur highway, on Monday evening was raped before being murdered, the autopsy report confirmed on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that the victim was 18 years old.

Doctors, who conducted the postmortem examination, said the victim was hit multiple times with a stone, leading to her death.

“The victim was raped before being murdered; she was hit multiple times with a stone. She sustained serious injuries on her head and this resulted in her death,” said Dr Deepak Mathur, who conducted the postmortem in Gurgaon.

Earlier, it was suspected that the accused had attacked the victim with a knife, but experts said she had been hit with a stone.

The police have added rape charges under section 376 of IPC and also added section 201 of the IPC to the case that was filed against the accused at the Bilaspur police station late on Monday evening. The victim’s elder sister, who lodged the complaint on Monday, said the girl was alone in their house when the accused barged in.

“When I reached the house, I saw the accused trying to put my sister’s blood-covered body in a large plastic bag. When I started shouting to alert the neighbours, the accused threw the bag and tried to escape towards the highway,” she said.

The villagers were able to catch one of the accused, who was brought back to the house before being handed over to the police.

In the meantime, the victim’s father returned and took the bleeding girl to the hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The arrested man has been identified as Gajender Singh. He is a driver and hails from Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. He has been remanded to police custody for one day for questioning, police said. The police are also probing whether the accused was helped by an accomplice in executing the crime.

“The accused was produced in the court and taken into one-day custody. The charge of rape has been added to the FIR and matter is being probed from all angles and to find if there were any more people involved,” said Ravinder Kumar, public relations officer, Gurgaon police.
