Woman arrested for Gzb acid attack
POLICE SAID THE ACCUSED AND THE VICTIM WERE IN A ‘RELATIONSHIP’ WHICH HAD TURNED SOUR
GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad police on Thursday arrested five people, including the prime suspect, a 24-year-old woman, for throwing acid on a 23-year-old woman.
The police said that the victim had walked out of a ‘same- sex relationship’ with the accused which might have triggered the acid attack.
The victim was on her way to her office in an auto-rickshaw when two bikers arrived near Mohan Nagar intersection and threw a pouch full of acid on her. The 23-year-old was left her with 25% burns.
An FIR was lodged by the victim’s family, naming the 24-yearold as the prime accused.
“We arrested the accused woman who had a homosexual relationship with the victim. She targeted her as the victim had allegedly started getting friendly towards a man. Infuriated by this, the accused came in roped in an auto driver who helped her arrange men to target the victim for an amount of Rs 1 lakh. The auto driver arranged the acid from a jeans dyeing factory at Loni,” said Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.
“Yes, I had a relationship with the woman but she left me. I could not tolerate this and wanted to take revenge,” the accused woman said.
Apart from the woman, the police arrested the auto driver Arjun and his friends Ravi, Salman and Lalu. Police claimed that Ravi was riding the bike and Arjun rode the pillion and threw the acid.
The prime accused works as an executive with a housing finance company at Kaushambi while the victim worked as an executive with a finance company and was attached to a bank branch in Ghaziabad.
