Railways, Punjab in national hockey semis
LUCKNOW: Railways, Punjab, Air India and PSPB entered the semi-finals of the Hockey India senior men’s national championship (A Div). The losing quarterfinalists were Punjab & Sind Bank, Comptroller & Auditor General, Odisha & Chandigarh.
MIZORAM BEAT ODISHA
KOLKATA: Mizoram walloped Odisha 5-0 for their second successive win, while Karnataka beat Goa 4-1 in the Santosh Trophy. Lal Romawia struck a brace (41st, 59th) to take his tally to four goals from four matches, while Mizoram also scored through Lalbiakhlua (37th), Malsawmdawng (73rd) and F Lalrinpuia (90+1st).
AUSTRALIA BEAT INDIA
MUMBAI: Australia women beat India by six wickets in the opening match of the T20 tri-series. Opener Smriti Mandhana struck 67 off 41 balls, helping India post 152/5. I n reply, Australia equalled t heir highest-ever chase in T20, comfortably winning in 18.1 overs.
ADVANI IN QUARTERS
YANGON: Pankaj Advani will face Aung Htay in knockouts of the Asian Billiards Championship.
