Two FIRS registered, two teams set up for leak probe
NEWDELHI: The Delhi police crime branch has registered two FIRS in connection with the alleged paper leak of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams
A senior police officer said the two cases were registered on a complaint by a regional director of the board. Two special investigative teams headed by two DCPS, four ACPS and five inspectors are probing the case.
The two FIRS were registered under sections of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against ‘unknown persons’ on Tuesday and Wednesday.
At least 25 persons, most of them students, have been questioned, police said.
Special commissioner of police (crime) RP Upadhyaya said the two cases are related to the alleged leak of the Class 12 Economics paper on Tuesday and Class 10 Mathematics paper on Wednesday.
“We have questioned around 25 persons in the case, who are mostly students. We questioned those who had received the question papers over Whatsapp,” he said, adding the CBSE said that the paper was leaked in Delhi.
A senior police officer said CBSE officials confirmed that the question paper set was not tampered with at any of the examination centres across the city.
The CBSE had on March 15 filed a complaint at the Madhu Vihar police station in east Delhi.
The board’s regional director in his complaint denied the Class 12 accountancy paper on March 15 was leaked, contrary to rumours, and asked the police to identify the pranksters who were circulating fake papers over chats.
The CBSE had also submitted copies of screenshots of question papers, circulated on Whatsapp. The phone numbers of those who had forwarded the question papers were blurred.
Till late Wednesday night, the crime branch were yet to make a breakthrough in the case.
