NEW DELHI: The principals of three more schools — two in outer Delhi and one in Haryana — have been questioned by the Delhi Police’s special investigation team (SIT) in connection with the Class 12 CBSE paper leak case.

Sources said that so far principals of four schools have been questioned in the case.

SIT officials said they questioned the principals and some teachers of the three schools to verify allegations made by the three arrested teachers and some students that the Class 12 Economics paper was leaked in their examination centres.

Two teachers Rishabh and Rohit of the Mother Khazani Convent school, Bawana, and Tauqeer Hasan, a tutor at a local coaching centre was arrested by the police on Sunday. A city court on Tuesday extended the trio’s police custody by two more days.

A police officer said Hasan had claimed that he had forwarded the paper to only 25 students, but probe so far has suggested that more than 100 students had received the paper through Whatsapp. Investigators focused their probe on other schools after some students told police they had received the paper through Whatsapp groups of which Hasan was not even a member.

The three arrested men have told police that the question paper was leaked in other schools though they have not produced any evidence to support their allegations, said the officer

“Three more schools are under scanner as we have widened our probe. We have questioned the principals of these schools to verify the allegations. If the allegations are found to be true and any of the principals or teachers of the schools are found guilty, then we will book them in the case,” said a senior crime branch official.

On Tuesday, the principal and two teachers of Mother Khazani Convent School were questioned for almost three hours by the SIT officials. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) official, KS Rana, who was suspended by the board for being lax in supervising the examination centre, is yet to join the probe.

The question papers of CBSE Class 12 board economics and Class 10 maths were leaked before the exams. Two separate FIRS were registered in the case. SIT officials are yet to make a headway in the Class 10 maths paper leak case.
