Class 10, Class 12 papers leaked by same man: Police

CBSE LEAK Cops say accused Rakesh Kumar had leaked Class 10 maths paper to his sisterinla­w to become principal of his school

NEW DELHI: A private school teacher, who was arrested from Una in Himachal Pradesh last week for leaking CBSE economics paper of Class 12, had also allegedly leaked the Class 10 mathematic­s paper, Delhi Police said on Thursday.

Rakesh Kumar, a commerce teacher at DAV Centenary School in Una and superinten­dent of an examinatio­n centre in the area, was arrested on April 7 for photograph­ing and circulatin­g the economics paper on Whatsapp. Two other employees of the school, clerk Amit Sharma and peon Ashok Kumar, were arrested for helping Rakesh.

The police on Thursday also arrested Rakesh’s sister-in-law for conspiring with him. Two bank employees were also nabbed for negligence. Joint commission­er of police (crime) Alok Kumar said the arrested woman’s son was appearing for the Class 12 exams and she had relatives whose children were in Class 10. She had told Rakesh that she could help him become principal of his school using her political connection­s, Kumar said.

“When we interrogat­ed Rakesh Kumar , he admitted that along with the Class 12 paper he had also leaked the Class 10 question paper on March 23,” said Kumar. The economics paper was held on March 26 and maths paper was held on March 28.

Police said that Rakesh had earlier told them that when he went to collect the question papers of computer science and informatic­s practices from a bank branch in Una on March 23, he picked up a packet of economics paper. “He later admitted to have picked up a Class 10 mathematic­s paper bundle too. While he gave the bundle of Class 12 economics papers to Amit and Ashok, he kept the packet of maths papers with himself. Later, he opened the seal and took one question paper,” Kumar said.

He later opened the maths paper seal carefully and took out one paper. After taking photograph­s of the paper on his mobile he places the paper back and reseals the bundle He calls one of his students and dictates the maths paper He also takes photos of the paper on his phone.

Rakesh later sends the photos to his female relative in Punjab, who further leaks to others

inside the cover and resealed it. He then allegedly called one of his students, who was also a friend’s son, to his residence and made him write down all the questions. He had called another student to copy the economics paper. Police said he allegedly himself clicked pictures of the question paper and sent them to the woman. The woman in turn allegedly sent the paper to one of her relatives, after which they were shared multiple times on Whatsapp groups.
