CBSE plaint against JEE leak rumours
NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approached Delhi Police with a complaint against a website for alleging in a news report that the questions of JEE (main), which was conducted on Sunday, were similar to those asked in a mock test conducted by a coaching class chain in 2016.
“We have received a complaint. The allegations are being verified. An FIR will be registered if the allegations are found true,” said Joy Tirkey, deputy commissioner of police (crime)
In its complaint, the Board has taken issue with a website for publishing an article which surmised that about seven-eight questions in the entrance exam paper may have been copied from a practice paper issued in 2016 by a coaching academy.
The website also published the model paper it said was from the academy and asked the readers to judge for themselves.
“While it is established that the news about JEE (main) 2018 questions being identical to 2016 mock test is baseless and circulated to damage the image of the board, CBSE has taken cognizance of the situation and filed a written complaint for lodging FIR against the website owner with the DCP (crime),” the Board said.
In a clarification issued on Wednesday the board said that a weblink had posted that 7-8 questions out of the 90 questions of JEE 2018 paper were carried from a model paper of a coaching institution.
In this context, CBSE has stated that these questions or items did not exist in 2016.
