Anirban Lahiri shoots 3-over, misses cut at RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND (US): Anirban Lahiri continued to have problems with his putter as he missed lot of makeable putts to shoot three-over 74 in the second round and miss the cut at the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour. Lahiri, who scored 72 in first round, had a nightmaris­h second round as he missed five putts 10 feet or inside.

ADITI MAKES CUT

HAWAII: Aditi Ashok shot a solid two-under 70 to make the cut and followed it up with 2-over 74 in the third round at the Lotte Championsh­ips. Aditi had three birdies against four bogeys after starting the day at T-18 and ended at T-32.

FOOTBALL TRIALS

NEWDELHI: Football Delhi, the governing body for the sport in the national capital, is holding trials for selection of players to its Centre of Excellence for woman footballer­s in the age categories of under-16 and under-19.

The trials, which started on April 7 and will continue till April 25, are being held at the Ambedkar Stadium. Players born within the period January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2002 will be eligible for the U-19 category while those born between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2005 can attend the U-16 trials, the body stated in a press release.

RISING STUDENT WIN

SHILLONG: Rising Student Club (RSC) from Odisha won the second edition of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) in Shillong on Saturday after edging out last season’s champions, Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) from Manipur, in a tense penalty shootout in the final.

ESU had taken an early lead through Roja Devi in the first half and looked on course for a win. However, the Bembem Devicoache­d side’s failure to convert chances was punished in the 71st minute when RSC were awarded a penalty.

Striker Sanju Yadav converted the spot kick and RSC later went on to win the shootout 5-4.
