JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Choudhary Lal Singh, who drew outrage for attending a rally in support of Kathua rape and murder accused, held rallies across the state on Tuesday demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation(cbi) probe in the case.

“We want justice for the girl. She was our daughter and therefore, CBI probe becomes indispensable,” the Basohli MLA said.

Lal Singh along with Vijapur MLA of the BJP, Chander Parkash Ganga, had resigned from the state cabinet on Friday over their alleged support to the accused in the Kathua case.

Travelling in a big motorcade of his supporters, Singh addressed rallies at Satwari, Bari-brahmana, Samba, Ghagwal, Londi Morh, Dayalachak, Chadwal, Kootah Morh, Rajbagh, Barnoti, Kalibari and Kathua.

Defending himself, he said neither he nor Ganga had sup- ported the accused.

MEDIA TARGETED “

It shameful of media to have launched a disinformation campaign. We the Dogras of Jammu were projected as pro-rapists. No one bothered to hear grievances of the people. People are demanding a CBI probe and narco test for the accused. Is that a crime?,” he said at Kootah Morh.

“Media created a false perception of the entire incident. I congratulate the media of Jammu for bringing out the truth in the past couple of days,” he added.

TAKING ON PDP

Taking on the People’s Democratic Party( PDP), the BJP’S alliance partner in the state, Singh said: “We will keep fighting till the CBI enquiry is ordered. They (the PDP) set Kashmir on fire and now they want to do the same in Jammu.”

We did not to go to Pakistan. We did not speak a single word against Muslims. Hindus and Muslims have been living in total harmony here since a long time,” he said.

Singh said chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is the biggest failure in this entire incident. “She should have resigned if she has a conscience. She still has time to save her image. Otherwise, it will be too little, too late for her,” the BJP leader said.

The BJP MLA also raised questions on three different investigations by the state agencies saying the last probing agency (crime branch) has a tainted officer, accused of murder.

His wife and former MLA Kanta Andotra also said chief minister Mehbooba had no moral right to stay in office.

His rallies evoked a huge response from people. However, the commuters had to face a tough time.
