GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad police on Tuesday arrested two men from Indirapuram for allegedly gang-raping a 32-year-old woman who had met them for renting a flat. The two men, both property dealers, took the woman, a widow, to a flat in Vasundhara where they gangraped her on two different occasions.

The police said that they also suspect involvement of a police constable in the crime.

An FIR for gangrape and criminal intimidation was lodged at Indirapuram police station on April 23. On Tuesday, she was supposed to record her statement before a magistrate, but it could not be done, the police said.

“I was negotiating with one Abhishek, 36, for renting a flat in Ghaziabad. He called me on April 21 for showing me the flat. I told him that I was on Link Road in Ghaziabad. He picked me up in his car and took me to a flat in Vasundhara Sector-1. There, two-three more persons were present and he introduced them as his colleagues. They offered me a cold drink and I fell unconscious,” the woman, a resident of Shahdara in east Delhi, said in her complaint to the police.

She alleged that the next day she got a call from an anonymous number and the caller introduced himself as Sameer. He threatened her to come to the same flat in Vasundhara otherwise they would upload a video of the incident on the internet.

“I was with a friend when Sameer asked me to reach the same spot on Link Road from where I was picked up the previous day. I left my friend and reached Link Road. From there, I was taken to the same flat in Vasundhara, once again. There 2-3 persons raped me. One of them told me that he is a policeman. After my repeated requests, they left me around 9.30pm. I reached home and filed a police complaint,” the victim said in her complaint.

The police later lodged an FIR for gangrape and criminal intimidation against Abhishek, Sameer and others at Indirapuram police station.

“We have arrested Abhishek and Sameer, who are property dealers from Indirapuram. The third accused is suspected to be a police constable posted at Indirapuram. We are conducting a detailed inquiry to know his role,” said Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.

The official said the woman was allegedly gangraped first on April 21 and later the next day after the accused allegedly blackmailed her with a video of the incident. They had asked her to come again on April 23, but she approached police instead.
