NEWDELHI: Two men, both security guards, arrested in Model Town on Friday for the triple murder case, were produced before a court and remanded in police custody for three days.

The police told the court they were yet to make several recoveries, most importantly the pistols the duo had allegedly used to gun down businessman Jaspal Singh and his wife Prabhjot.

On Thursday night, Jaspal Singh allegedly killed his younger brother Gurjeet Singh and injured Gurjeet’s son Jagnoor by stabbing them with a kripan (dagger) after a tiff over parking space. In retaliation, Gurjeet’s two private armed security guards reportedly gunned down Jaspal and his wife.

The two guards, Haryana residents Vicky Deshwal and Pawan Kumar, were arrested on Friday.

“We will question them about the weapons as they have been evasive about the place where they had discarded them. They say that the pistols were both licensed and the licences were issued from Dimapur in Nagaland. We are yet to see the licences,” said an investigator.

Jagnoor’s condition, police said, had improved since Thursday but he is not yet fit to give a statement, said the police.

A senior police officer said that during interrogation, the two private hired guards claimed that they did not receive any directions from either Gurjeet or Jagnoor to shoot but after seeing their employer being attacked repeatedly, had opened fire.

“They saw that Jaspal was repeatedly attacking his brother and the only way they could force the attacker to stop was by shooting at him. However, Prabhjot came in between and was the first to be killed,” said the officer.
