NEW DELHI: A Class 9 and a Class 12 student allegedly fell from their school buildings in two separate incidents within the past four days.

The Class 9 student, a 14-yearold girl, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.

Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal visited Nigambodh Ghat on Wednesday to meet the family of the class 9 student. She had fallen from a government school building in Jahangirpuri on Sunday.

“The CM has assured the family of appropriate action,” a government official said.

Police, however, suspect the 14-year-old’s death to be a case of suicide.

The police, though, did not disclose the reason why she had ended her life. No suicide note was found, the police said.

In the other incident, on Tuesday afternoon, a Class 12 girl allegedly fell from the second floor of a government school building in Sagarpur. “We will probe how the student fell. We have asked the family if she was suffering depression. School authorities are also being questioned,” police said.

The directorate of education said they had received information about the two cases. Officials said the cases are under investigation so they cannot comment on it.

“Both the students are girls. But in both the situations, as of now, there is no evidence to prove negligence on part of the school authorities,” a DOE official said.
