PREPARING FOR EXAMS

-

Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura organised a workshop titled Success Skills and Learning Strategies for Boards by renowned psychologist Dr Aruna Broota.

The academic sessions of Classes 10 and 12 can be harrowing for students, and so the role of parents and teachers as mentors becomes paramount. The school organised the workshop in order to guide the parents with effective measures that would help them become active facilitators for their children. In the interactive session, Dr Broota said that instead of pressurising children to study, parents should create a warm, nurturing, hospitable and encouraging atmosphere that would stimulate a desire in them to study their curriculum more meaningfully. She then cited numerous anecdotes to emphasise the importance of self-confidence and selfworth in the life of adolescents, and cautioned them about the detrimental impact their absence may have in their lives. She encouraged parents to inculcate in their children the value of self-discipline and the habit of studying daily. She highlighted a number of experiences to show how a child’s psyche gets affected with the behaviour of the parents, role of the media and relationship between parents.

Principal Anjali Kotnala said such events bridge the communication gap between schools and parents. These initiatives encourage parents to take up their role in the right spirit.
