Govt must come clean on graft charges: Cong

-

NEWDELHI: The Delhi Congress on Saturday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, instead of the talking about corruption in tendering of CCTV cameras installation project, was trying to divert the attention by flagging it as ‘women’s security issue’.

Accusing deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia of deflecting the real issue by referring to concerns of resident welfare associations (RWAS), former Delhi minister Arvinder Singh Lovely urged the AAP leader to come clean on corruption charges.

“Sisoda was giving the impression that the AAP government was ready to install the cameras yesterday, and wanted to hand over the work to the RWAS. And the work is being stalled by the opposition parties and the Lieutenant Governor (L-G). The fact is that RWAS and any citizen groups were not consulted till the proposal was discussed in expenditure finance committee meeting on April 5,” Lovely said .

Lovely’s colleague in the Sheila Dikshit government and former Delhi minister Haroon Yusuf, added “First, they were saying a public sector undertaking was given the contract. When we revealed the name of the Chinese company, they are citing women security.”

Saurabh Bhardwaj, AAP spokesperson, however, said the Congress leaders did not have complete knowledge as the government had carried out a massive exercise to identify locations for camera installation after consulting residents.
