NEW DELHI: Delhi University started online registration for admission to its undergraduate courses from 6pm on Tuesday with around 10,000 applicants registering till 9pm on the first day. The aspirants will be able to complete their forms till June 7.

This year, applicants can register for both merit-based and entrance-based admissions to undergraduate courses on the same portal. Till last year, the registration process for entrance-based admission was separate.

“There will be two tabs on the same portal and a student can register for both or one of them. The student will have to make separate payment for the meritbased and for entrance-based registration,” a DU official said.

The university has around 56,000 seats in 66 colleges under the merit-based admissions and around 1,700 undergraduate seats for entrance-based admis- sions.

“We have had around 10,000 registrations till 9pm. The information bulletin has been uploaded and students can read details of each course and eligibility requirement for it in the bulletin,” an official said.

The university will announce the first cutoff on June 19 and admissions under it will go on till June 21. This year, DU will announce only five cutoff lists and conduct central counselling for remaining seats in the undergraduate seats.

“After the fifth cutoff list, if there are vacant seats available then the university is likely to conduct on spot counselling for admission to these seats,” the official said.

The online registration form will also allow candidates who are applying under the sports quota to upload their three best certificates instead of only one. “The three certificates have to be uploaded as three separate documents,” the statement said.
