school boards, as per university rules.

“This will bring transparency as it was difficult to cross check participation certificate but authenticating merit certificate is easier,” Kalkal said.

From this year on, the online registration form will also allow applicants applying under the sports quota to upload their three best certificates as three separate documents, instead of one.

“Last year, students could upload only one certificate and many students later requested to submit different certificates. Now, they can submit their three best certificates,” a university official.

The university gives 60% weightage for sports trial and 40% credit for certificates. The university will conduct sports specific physical fitness test for applicants after sports trials will be held.

Like last year, a centralised sports trial will be held at specific colleges. “There will be a centralised trial for each sport and students can use the marks allocated to them to seek admission in different colleges,” he said.

A student has to get minimum 30 marks in the trials to be admitted under the quota. However, the students who have represented the country in international games are given direct admission.

There is a fee of Rs 100 for each sport in which an applicant wants to be considered for admission under sports quota. For example, a candidate applying for admission under three sports categories shall have to pay Rs 300 in addition to the application registration charge.
