SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE SAID THE VICTIM WAS THE FOURTH WIFE OF THE 45YROLD MAN WHO DOUBTED HIS WIFE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh police arrested the husband of the woman whose naked body was found in a room in Pragati Nagar area on Thursday with a beer and a soft drink bottle found inside her private parts, an officer said.

Police claim the accused, Rajaram Mewada,45, a labourer and a resident of Ichhawar in Sehore district, has confessed to having committed the crime as he suspected his wife to be involved in an extra-marital affair.

Superintendent of police, South Bhopal, Rahul Kumar Lodha said the woman was Mewada’s fourth wife. His first wife had drowned in mysterious circumstances while his other two wives left him because he used to abuse and beat them up in an inebriated state.

Following his arrest on Friday, the police have now decided to also investigate the death of Mewada’s first wife.

“In his confession, Mewada claimed that his wife was having an affair with a neighbour, one Bablu, who has since gone missing. Mewada had asked his wife not to talk with Bablu and they had a fight over this many times. On the night of May 14, Mewada saw his wife talking to Bablu. He was drunk, picked a fight with her and later hit her head with a hammer,” officer Lodha said, adding he inserted the bottles in the victim’s private parts later on.

Police is waiting for the detailed post-mortem report.

During the investigation, the police was told by Arif Qureshi, the house owner’s son, that his family, upon returning from Mumbai on May 17, had found the houses of both Mewada and Bablu locked while a foul smell was emanating from Mewada’s house, which prompted them to contact the police.

Qureshi informed the police that Mewada and his wife had taken one of the rooms on rent at the ground floor of the three-storey house a couple of months ago.

The woman’s body was found in a storeroom adjacent to their rented room. Qureshi informed the police that couple had a fight on the afternoon of May 14.

Mewada’s brother Mukesh Mewada said, “Due to abnormal behaviour with his previous wives, the family took him to a sorcerer but nothing happened. He is mentally unstable so the family members had ended up all the ties with him.”
