GURUGRAM: A 37-year-old man was arrested on Friday evening for allegedly raping his minor daughter for last six months at a factory located in a village in Pataudi where he works and lives.

The accused had allegedly manipulated his 13-year-old into believing that it was normal for a father to have physical relations with his daughter, and she should not get unduly worried about this, the police said.

The accused works as a labourer in a factory in Pataudi, and lives with his second wife and four children, including the victim, who is from first marriage, in the factory premises.

“The man was arrested on Friday night at 10 pm . He was questioned in detail about the matter, but he seems to have no regret or guilt. He behaved normally and what is shocking is that he had manipulated the girl into believing that such sexual abuse happens in every house,” said inspector Poonam Singh, SHO, women police station Manesar.

During questioning it was revealed that the accused had been raping the girl for last six months, and he had been threatening the girl to keep quiet, the police said.

The police said that the girl had complained to her mother, a domestic help, but she did not believe her. But on Friday even- ing, she decided to return home early to check whether the girl’s accusation had some substance. When she reached home, she was shocked to see her husband abusing the minor girl, said police.

“It was quite brave of the stepmother to come and lodge a complaint as many people choose to remain silent,” said Singh.

The accused, who hails from Bihar, was booked under POCSO Act and a case was registered at Women Police Station, Manesar. He was produced in the court on Saturday and sent to judicial custody.

Singh said that when they spoke to the victim, she was in trauma and shock but was given counselling at the police station. She is presently putting up with her stepmother.

The police said the accused had married twice, and it was his second wife who had complained to the police regarding the sexual abuse of the girl.
