According to the police, the fire broke out around 10am. Witnesses told police that a woman alighted from the car, which was being driven by a chauffeur. As soon as the woman left the car, driver noticed smoke inside the car and ran out.
Within five minutes, the entire car was engulfed by fire, police said. Two motorcycles and a car, which were parked next to it also caught fire before any one could take any action. The driver and other bystanders then alerted locals, who, in turn called up the fire services.
“One fire tender was rushed to the spot, which doused the fire. No casualty was reported but the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. However, prima facie we suspect a short circuit in engine might have sparked the blaze,” said chief fire officer Atul Garg.
Garg also said there is a possibility that the fire broke out because of high temperature. However, he said that only technical experts will be able to identify the accurate reason.
The incident attracted crowd that led to a traffic jam on the main road, which was later cleared by the local traffic police.
