‘Stolen’ trailer runs into pole, causes power outage

GURUGRAM: A trailer, that had hit a car near the Atul Kataria Chowkingur­ugramaroun­dmidnight on Wednesday, was later allegedly stolen by miscreants who drove it into a narrow residentia­l lane of Sector 45 damaging five cars and an electricit­y pole. Police were able to link the two cases by early Thursday morning when the trailer driver filed a complaint. No casualty was reported, police said.

The incident left a handful of houses in Sector 45 without power for all of Thursday. Residents said the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) was able to restore supply by 6pm.

An FIR was filed at the Sector 17/18 police station for rash driving, theft, mischief causing damage, wrongful restraint and mischief causing damage. NOIDA: The income tax (IT) department of Gautam Budh Nagar on Thursday searched six locations for an assistant project engineer of the Noida authority. The search operation was headed by joint director MK Jain from the investigat­ing wing of the depart- ment. According to officials, Brijpal Chaudhari had been on the IT department’s radar for a while. The department began the search operation on Thursday morning. Officials first searched Chaudhary’s residence in Sector 27, then a school in Pilkhuwa village, and an office in Sector 63.

According to officials, Chaudhary allegedly has a share in the school in Pilkhuwa. They said they received leads on his possible location from the initial three, following which they searched three more locations.
