NEWDELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Friday reshuffled the departments of eight bureaucrats, relieving a few of them of additional charges that they were previously holding.

An order issued by the services department of the Delhi government stated that principal secretary health and family welfare Rajiv Yaduvanshi will now be the principal secretary, urban development.

Yaduvanshi will be relieving Manoj Parida, who is principal secretary home, of the additional charge of urban development.

Parida is also heading the general administration and the public works departments.

An official from the services department said that the transfers were “routine” and “needed” as many bureaucrats were “overburdened” with additional charges of multiple departments.

Sanjeev Khirwar, a 1994-batch IAS officer, who was awaiting posting, has been made secretary, health and family welfare.

Garima Gupta, a 2004-batch IAS officer who was handling as many as six departments, has been relieved of the post of the director of higher education and special secretary (education). All other departments remain intact with her.

Besides, JP Agrawal, special secretary, general administration department, was transferred and posted as director higher education, replacing Garima Gupta, though Agrawal retained the additional charge of special secretary, GAD.

IAS Sandeep Kumar has been posted as secretary (education) with additional charge of secretary (IT) and MD (Geospatial Ltd.)
