Kejri alleges frame-up bid, wants to meet L-G
‘WITCHHUNT’ Kejriwal claims CBI, ACB picking files up randomly
NEWDELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday sought time from Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to meet him on Monday after levelling allegations that the CBI and the anti corruption branch (ACB) were randomly picking files from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to “somehow frame him in something”.
Water is the only portfolio which Kejriwal has kept with himself.
The chief minister is also the chairperson of DJB. In a series of tweets, Kejriwal said he will put out a list of all files sought by the CBI and the ACB in the public domain.
Although not specifying any date for the announcement, the chief minister said he would ask the agencies to either explain the reason or else “apologise to Delhiites for this witch-hunting exercise”.
“CBI and ACB have randomly started picking files from DJB, even as there is no specific enquiry. Their effort is to somehow frame me in something because now I am the minister in charge of the water utility,” Kejriwal said.
After abstaining for over a year from mentioning the prime minister in his speeches and statements, Kejriwal on Saturday also accused PM Modi, L-G Anil Baijal and the BJP, which is ruling at the Centre, of “paralysing” works of the Delhi government.
“PM, LG and the BJP, if you have any specific information then please investigate. But, don’t victimise Delhi’s people by paralysing all departments of the Delhi government,” Kejriwal said.
With the Lok Sabha polls scheduled next year, the Aam Aadmi Party convener seems to have changed his strategy. From falling completely silent after attacking the PM since April last year, the chief minister has once again upped the ante against the NDA government.
Following AAP’S poor performance in Punjab and the BJP’S sweep in Uttar Pradesh, Kejriwal had consciously decided to minimise his attacks on Modi.
The strategy to rather focus on highlighting development works in Delhi was strengthened by AAP’S poor show in the municipal corporation elections compared to its stellar performance of winning 67 out of the 70 seats in the 2015 assembly elections.
In the municipal corporations of Delhi election, where AAP contested for the first time, the party managed to win just 48 of the 272 wards.
