GREATER NOIDA: A week after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by four persons in Dadri area of Greater Noida, the police lodged an FIR against the accused on Saturday night, after the victim allegedly threatened to immolate herself.

The girl claimed that on June 3, four persons believed to be in their 20s, abducted her and took her to their rented accommodation and allegedly raped her for five days.

No arrests have been made in the case so far.

She also alleged that the police refused to file an FIR on Friday and it was only after she attempted to immolate herself that the police lodged an FIR under sections of rape on Saturday.

“The victim has named two persons — Gulvesh and Arman — who used to live as tenants in her neighbourhood. She alleged that on the afternoon of June 3, she was asked by the accused to have a cold drink, which she claims was laced with an intoxicant. She said she was then raped by four persons for five days. We have lodged a case of gang rape under Sections 376 (D) of the IPC and the Protection Of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” said Nishank Sharma, circle officer, Dadri.

In response to the girl’s allegations about the delay in filing of the FIR, Sharma said, “I was unaware of the girl’s complaint till Saturday. The FIR was lodged as soon as I was made aware about the complaint.”

The girl said she had approached the police on June 8, but officials refused to file an FIR.

“The police were not willing to file an FIR even after I approached them multiple times on Friday. They asked me to go away. On Saturday, I threatened to immolate myself and only then did they hear my plea. They have still not got my medical test conducted despite taking me to the district hospital in Noida and the community health centre in Dadri,” the girl, who is a high school student, said.

A member of the Dadri police staff said, “The girl was taken to the district hospital for medical examination on Saturday night but she was referred to the community health centre in Dadri. Today (Sunday), there was no woman doctor in the Dadri CHC and her medical will be conducted on Monday.”

“We sent the victim along with women constables to the hospital and CHC on Saturday and Sunday, but due to the lack of a medical kit, the test was not possible. However, it will be done on Monday,” Sharma said.

According to the police, all the four accused are currently absconding.

“The four accused are natives of Rampur and are absconding since the incident. We know the names of the two accused and the remaining are their friends. Two teams have been formed and sent to Rampur to arrest them,” Shavez Khan, station house officer, Dadri police station, said.
