NEW DELHI: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Friday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the ongoing ‘strike’ by IAS officers in the Capital.

Singh, after the meeting around 10.30am, said that he apprised the home minister about how in the last four months IAS officers had missed meetings because of which work had slowed down.

“We told the home minister about the matter and he assured us that he will discuss the issue with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal,” the AAP leader said.

Later in the day, the AAP alleged that the Central govern- ment was conspiring to forcefully end the peaceful protest by its party ministers. Singh said that the BJP government and the L-G were displaying an “inhuman attitude” towards Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and health minister Satyendar Jain, who have been on a hunger strike against the ongoing ‘strike’ by IAS officers.

“I have spoken to Kejriwal ji and he told me that they (the Centre) are not giving permission to give enema to Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. This is a regular procedure, which is done for people who are on hunger strikes for several days,” Singh said.

AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said that along with the two dozen meetings that the IAS officers have missed in the last four months, they have also ignored meetings called to discuss the rising levels of pollution in the Capital.

“On Friday , a review meeting was called to discuss the steps taken on rising pollution levels in the city. It is an emergency condition. But the officers chose to miss the meeting. This should end the debate of whether or not the IAS officers are on a strike,” he said.
