DELHI POLICE’S SPECIAL CELL RECOVERED 1,560 CARTRIDGES FROM THE DUO, WHO USED TO SUPPLY AMMUNITION TO CRIMINAL GANGS OF NORTHEAST DELHI AS IT FETCHED MORE MONEY

NEWDELHI: Delhi Police’s special cell on Friday arrested two ammunition suppliers and recovered 1,560 cartridges from them. The recovery is the singlebiggest recovery of ammunitions this year. The duo used to supply ammunition to criminal gangs of northeast Delhi, police said.

The two accused were identified as Prem Singh, 37, from Mathura and his associate Alok Shivhare, 48, who hails from Agra in UP.

Deputy commissioner of police (special cell), Promod Kushwah said that Singh disclosed that he has been supplying the ammunitions to the criminals of NCR for the past three years.

“He also disclosed that he used to procure these ammunitions illegally from one Shivhare, who runs a gun store in Agra,” Kushwah said.

“Singh was arrested following a tip off on Wednesday from near Barapullah flyover, Sarai Kale Khan. We found 350 live cartridges of .315 bore and .32 bore in his bag. Two days later, on Friday, at Singh’s instance, the accused Shivhare was also arrested from Agra and 1,210 more live illegal cartridges were recovered from his possession,” Kushwah said.

Shivhare told police that he is a post-graduate in performing arts from Agra University.

“In 2000, he procured a gun house licence and opened his gun house at Bodla, Paschim Puri Road in Agra. Beside the gun house, his family also has five liquor shops in Agra,” the DCP said.

“Gradually, he came in contact with criminals of Delhi and UP and started supplying illegal ammunitions to these criminals as he was getting a higher price for the ammunition. He has been supplying the ammunitions illegally for more than three years,” Kushwah said.
