HT reported earlier this month that the flyover was likely to miss its previous deadline of June 30
project was supposed to be June 30. Repeated delays have escalated the estimated cost for the project from ₹177 crore in 2008 to ₹725 crore.
The flyover aims to streamline traffic towards ISBT, Kashmere Gate, and Mori Gate.
Areas like Shakti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Gulabi Bagh, Kamla Nagar, Sadar Bazar, Paharganj, Azad Market are also likely to be decongested once this flyover becomes operational.
Civic officials have cited several reasons for the delay. They say prime among the problems has been the acquisition of land, multiplicity of executing agencies and shifting of utilities around the construction site.
Besides officials from the concerned departments, the L-G was accompanied by M M Rao from IIT Delhi and CRRI senior principal scientist Rajiv Goel along with their teams. NEWDELHI: The Delhi government has formed an 11-member committee to execute its project of providing free Wi-fi at public places across the city.
“Keeping in view of specialised nature of the Wi-fi project which requires the inputs of various stakeholders from the field, the Public Works Department (PWD) has constituted a ‘Specification Committee’ for the Wi-fi project in Delhi,” said a Delhi government order issued this week.
The panel constitutes representatives from the Delhi Police, PWD, and the departments of power, home and IT, the government order states.
Providing free Wi-fi at public places was one of the key poll promises of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government which came in power in 2015.
The Delhi government in the 2018-19 budget has earmarked ₹100 crore for free Wi-fi access across the city.
