NEW DELHI: The BJP in Delhi has roped in all seven MPS and senior functionaries to supervise the formation of block- and boothlevel teams and strengthen support for the organisation in Delhi’s 14 districts in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.

The party’s state unit chief Manoj Tiwari has allocated one district each to an MP, while the remaining seven districts will be looked after by senior party leaders. Tiwari, an MP from the North East Delhi seat, has kept the North East district himself.

The decision to engage MPS and others came after party’s national president Amit Shah expressed displeasure over state of affairs in the local unit during a meeting with 18-member core team of Delhi BJP last month.

South Delhi MP Ramesh Bid- huri will oversee South Delhi district, Meenakshi Lekhi (New Delhi MP) has been given New Delhi district, and Parvesh Verma is incharge of Najafgarh district. Chandni Chowk MP Harsh Vardhan has been assigned Keshav Puram while Udit Raj (MP from North West Delhi) will monitor Outer district. Maheish Girri, who is MP from the East Delhi seat, will oversee Shahdara district affairs.

Leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta and Satish Upadhyay have been given Karol Bagh and Mayur Vihar districts respectively. The co-incharge of Delhi BJP Tarun Chugh will manage Navin Shahdara district and Pawan Sharma will see the West district. Three general secretaries of Delhi BJP Rajesh Bhatia, Ravinder Gupta, and Kuljeet Chahal have been assigned North West, Chandni Chowk, and Mehrauli district respectively.
