THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN JAYPEE KLASSIC, IN SECTOR 134

Noida: An eight-year-old boy fell into an under-construction basement of his society in Sector 134 on Monday evening while playing. He was taken to a private hospital nearby where his condition continues to be critical.

According to residents, the incident took place in Jaypee Klassic, part of Wish Town project in Sector 134, around 6.30pm. The boy, Aarav Beniwal, was playing in the park.

“There is a ventilation shaft that is being constructed. It leads to the basement and the lower basement. There is a broken wall in the park where this shaft is being constructed. While playing, the boy took the wall’s support and fell nearly 20-25 foot into the l ower basement,” Hemant Bedi, a resident of the society, said.

Bedi said the police and fire department were alerted immediately. “The way to the basement has been blocked due to the construction. It took firemen nearly an hour to get the child out following which he was taken to the hospital,” he said, adding that the kid continues to be ‘critical’.

The residents have filed a police complaint against the builder. “The construction had been going on for a long time. Multiple complaints had been given to the builder to wrap up the work as soon as possible. However, no action had taken place,” Bedi said, adding that nearly four hours after the incident also, no FIR was registered.

Police said based on the complaint given by residents, an investigation will be done in the matter.

“We are investigating the case. We will go through the necessary documents that support the residents’ claims and if the builder is found to be at fault, an FIR under sections of negligence will be registered against him,” Hans Raj Bhadoriya, station house officer, Expressway police station, Sector 135, said. NEW DELHI: Expressing his “concern” over repeated incidents of mob lynching, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Monday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking deliberation to “allay the uneasiness” prevalent in the Muslim community.

“Gullible Muslims, trading cattle on crossroads, are murdered by the organised mobs of gaurakshaks involved in mob violence, in full view of the people. Deprived of any strict action on such atrocities, only tears have become the fate of the hapless Muslims,” Bukhari wrote.

On Monday, Bukhari also wrote to Congress president Rahul Gandhi seeking his intervention as leader of the main Opposition party to pressure the government to take immediate steps in the matter.

“Muslims suffer from an extreme sense of deprivation. Pacifying the youth is becoming difficult. How far can we stop them from going astray in the face of such atrocities?,” his letter to Gandhi said.
