35-yr-old woman hangs herself in Ggm condominium, probe on
GURUGRAM: A 35-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her apartment in an upscale society in Sector 33 on Tuesday morning. The police have recovered a suicide note.
The woman, identified as Bhawna Arora, was a resident of Unitech The Residences, where she lived with her husband and 12-year-old daughter. She allegedly killed herself soon after sending her daughter to school, the police said.
The police said they received a call around 9am from the police control room alerting that a woman had committed suicide in her apartment. When a team from Sadar police station reached the society, a relative of the woman’s husband was present at the spot. The woman left behind a three-page suicide note in which she stated that she was upset with the behaviour of her husband and in-laws, the police said.
The police recovered a diary in which the deceased had written a three-page note dated July 31.
“I am fed of such things now…he always broke my heart... Its really tough to survive any more like this (sic),” she wrote in the note, a copy of which is with Hindustan Times. She wrote her husband had left with his parents without her knowledge and had not called her.
Her husband Amit Khanna did not respond to calls and messages despite repeated attempts. Her sister-in-law refused to comment stating that she did not want to share any details.
“The woman had called her husband, who was in Meerut, around 7.30am to inform him about the extreme step she was going to take. He immediately informed his cousin who rushed to the apartment, but by that time Bhawna had committed suicide,” inspector Arjun Dev of Sadar Police station said.
The neighbours told the police that they had seen Bhawna with her daughter in the morning. According to the neighbours, she “seemed depressed”.
Virender Singh Gusai, estate manager of the condominium, said, “I received a call from Amit (Bhawna’s husband) around 8.30am that his wife was not responding to his calls or text. Meanwhile, his cousin had also approached us as no one was opening the door, despite him repeatedly ringing the doorbell. Once the police reached the apartments, we broke the door open and found her hanging from a ceiling fan in the bedroom.”
The body was sent for postmortem examination, which will be conducted on Wednesday after her husband and parents, who live in Amritsar, reach Gurugram, the police said.
“We are waiting for Amit Khanna, the husband, to return and the parents of the deceased. We are investigating the case, but have not received any formal complaint yet. A case will be registered if we find anyone responsible for the death,” DCP (crime) Sumit Kuhar said.
The police said Bhawna’s husband works in the insurance sector and travels frequently. The couple had been married for 14 years.
