TIME TO CHANGE PAK’S DESTINY, SAYS IMRAN IN FIRST ADDRESS
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his inaugural address to the nation, called for peaceful relations with neighbouring countries. “I have had telephonic conversations with most of them. They have wished me well... I am keen on improving relations with countries in the region so that we can move ahead on human development,” he said.
Speaking a day after his swearing in, Khan identified Pakistan’s economic challenges and pitched austerity to elevate the economically weaker sections of society. In his address, broadcast by the state-run Pakistan Television, Khan brought up Pakistan’s ballooning debt. “Our debt went from 15,000 billion to 28,000 billion. We will do a complete audit on where this money went. We will also look into what level of interest we are paying on our loans,” he said.
