TIME TO CHANGE PAK’S DESTINY, SAYS IMRAN IN FIRST ADDRESS

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his inaugural address to the nation, called for peaceful relations with neighbouri­ng countries. “I have had telephonic conversati­ons with most of them. They have wished me well... I am keen on improving relations with countries in the region so that we can move ahead on human developmen­t,” he said.

Speaking a day after his swearing in, Khan identified Pakistan’s economic challenges and pitched austerity to elevate the economical­ly weaker sections of society. In his address, broadcast by the state-run Pakistan Television, Khan brought up Pakistan’s ballooning debt. “Our debt went from 15,000 billion to 28,000 billion. We will do a complete audit on where this money went. We will also look into what level of interest we are paying on our loans,” he said. MUMBAI: China’s Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has initiated talks with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retail Ltd to form a mega Indian retail joint venture, with an investment of at least $5 billion to challenge the dominance of Flipkart and Amazon in the world’s fastest-growing economy, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said.

I have spoken to all of Pak’s neighbours... There is a need for peace and without it, we cannot improve our situation.
