NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in east Delhi’s Mandawali on Thursday evening. Police have found a suicide note in which the woman has mentioned that “her body brought her insult” and she felt “caged”.

Police said that the family members of the woman have not suspected any foul play.

According to the police, the woman had been working at a private firm in Laxmi Nagar for the past few weeks. She lived in Mandawali with her mother and younger siblings after her father passed away a few years ago.

It was on Thursday evening that the woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room by one of her siblings after which the mother was called. Neighbours helped the family bring down the woman’s body and police were informed.

Police rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. A senior police officer probing the matter said that a suicide note was recovered from the woman. The note also has a poem written in it, which reads, “She was the bird, with no wings, she wanted to fly, but she had to die…”

“The suicide note starts with – ‘Mama I love you’, with a smiley made under it. The woman further mentions in her note that whatever step she is taking is for her own happiness. She has written that she wanted to a lot in life but her body brought her insult and that she was trapped in this body like it was a cage. She also wrote that never lose faith in god, he exists,” said the officer.
