THREE MEN, INCLUDING THE WOMAN’S FATHER AND BROTHER, HAVE ALREADY BEEN ARRESTED IN THE CASE

FARIDABAD: The Faridabad Police on Saturday arrested one more accused over last week’s murder of a man allegedly over a marital dispute. Police said the man had threatened to divorce his wife, which had reportedly infuriated the woman’s family. Three persons, including the woman’s father and brother, have already been arrested in the case.

The victim, identified as Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Faridabad’s Nehru Colony, married the woman around 10 months ago.

“On Saturday, another accused identified as Mohammad Ali was arrested in the same case. He was sent to jail,” police spokesperson Sube Singh said. “A hunt has been launched to nab the woman, who is absconding, to investigate her role in the murder,” Singh said.

Kumar had reportedly gone missing on August 16 and based on the complaint of his family an FIR had been registered.

The case was subsequently handed over to Crime Branch DLF, Faridabad, which arrested one Salim a few days ago. During his interrogation, Salim reportedly told the police that Sanjay had eloped with his sister about 10 months ago and returned to Faridabad two months ago.

“The couple had married in a temple in Rajasthan and returned Faridabad two months ago. The man is reported to have recently threatened to divorce his wife, which allegedly infuriated the woman’s family,” a police official investigating the case said.

“During interrogation, Salim said his father Fazrudin had hatched a plan to kill Sanjay Kumar with the help of two other men,” Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) DLF in-charge Naveen Kumar said.

On August 16, three persons — Salim, Mohd Ali and Sumit — invited Sanjay for drinks in an isolated spot in a nearby jungle. After consuming liquor, the trio beat Sanjay and slit his throat. The body was thrown in the jungle, the police said.

“After Salim’s interrogation, we reached the spot where they had abandoned Sanjay Kumar’s body,” Navin Kumar said. The cops said the other two accused — the woman’s father Fazrudin and Sumit — were arrested on Wednesday based on information provided by Salim.
