NEWDELHI: The body of a 15-yearold boy, who had gone missing from north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Sunday night, was found stuffed in a sack dumped on the roadside in Rohini the next day, police said on Thursday.

The boy remained unidentified for two days until Wednesday when his family identified him from the red shirt he was wearing at the time of his death, said Aslam Khan, deputy commissioner of police (northwest). Since the autopsy report is awaited, the officer said she couldn’t say whether the boy was sexually assaulted or not.

The police said they have certain clues about the killer and preliminary investigations have suggested that the boy was killed by someone who had “personal enmity” with him.

The boy lived with his mother and maternal uncle after his parents had divorced around 10 years ago. His mother does odd jobs.

“The boy was last seen at 10.30pm on Sunday outside a cigarette shop near his home from where he had purchased toffees. After his mother reported him missing, we registered a case and began a search for him,” a police official said.

The boy’s body was found in a sack dumped along a road running parallel to a canal in Rohini district’s KN Katju Marg.

A passerby had alerted the police after spotting the body, officials said.

“The boy appeared to be strangulated. He limbs were tied with a cloth. We registered a murder case and shared the details with the other police stations in Delhi. That led to him being identified,” said Rajneesh Gupta, deputy commissioner of police (Rohini).
