FARIDABAD: The Faridabad police, on Thursday, said they had arrested the four men who allegedly gang-raped a 20-year-old woman and held her male friend hostage in Ballabgarh on the night of September 18.

Police said the men would be presented before the victim in a test identification parade inside the jail on Friday.

“We have succeeded in cracking the case. We have identified all four men, and three have been arrested. The fourth accused will also be arrested soon,” Faridabad police commissioner Amitabh Singh Dhillon had said Thursday morning, hours after which the fourth accused was arrested from his relative’s house in Palwal district along the Haryana-up border.

“The accused are all married men below the age of 25 years and unemployed. Three of the four accused have cases of theft against them,” Dhillon said. On Thursday evening, the court granted police the permission to conduct identification parade inside Faridabad jail on Friday.

“The woman was in trauma after the incident, so we have kept her in a safe house. We are also making efforts to get compensation released in her favour from the state,” the police commissioner said.

Without elaborating on how the police identified and arrested the four men, Dhillon said the arrests were a result of efforts the police’s technical surveillance and inputs of physical appearance provided by the woman which helped the police prepare sketches of the four accused.

Police said the woman’s male friend, who was with her, is one of the key witness.

The four men had allegedly gang-raped the woman in an isolated area of Faridabad on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old woman, who works in a local factory, was returning home with her male friend when the duo was assaulted by the four men.
