JET AIRWAYS FLIGHT MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING IN MP

BHOPAL: A Jet Airways flight with 104 people on board made an emergency landing at Indore airport after one of its two engines failed on Sunday afternoon. All the crew and passengers aboard flight 9W955, travelling from Hyderabad to Indore, were safe.

Indore airport director A Sanyal said the pilot of the Boeing 737 aircraft informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) that one of the plane’s engines had failed.

“The aircraft landed s uccessfull­y at 12.06 pm at the Indore airport. All the 104 passengers and crew are safe,” Sanya said.

According to ATC officials familiar with the matter, the aircraft was cruising at 36,000 feet at around 850 km per hour when it suffered engine failure . As per protocol, the snag-hit engine was switched off and the plane made an emergency landing, they added.

The Jet Airways, in a statement, confirmed the emergency landing and said its engineerin­g team was inspecting the plane.

“Jet Airways’ flight 9W 955, Hyderabad to Indore, on September 30, made an emergency landing at Indore. The B737 aircraft landed safely and all were successful­ly deplaned,” it said.

Sunday’s incident comes a week after a Mumbai-jaipur Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai after a drop i n cabin pressure resulted in 30 passengers suffering from nosebleed and headache.

Last week, a Mumbai-delhi Jet flight was hit by a snag in the air conditioni­ng system because of which passengers complained of discomfort during the course of their journey.
