BJP, RSS confusing voters: CM
NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS) would tacitly support the Congress to cut into AAP votes ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Addressing a public meeting in Rohini, the AAP chief alleged that the RSS was trying to confuse voters through their murmur campaign in the national capital.
“RSS is carrying out a door-todoor campaign, which is also being spread to the parks in Delhi during morning walks to mislead voters,” Kejriwal said.
“They engage with people and say Modi has ruined everything and the Congress is better than Modi. This is being done to split the anti-bjp votes to make the BJP win the Lok Sabha seats. The RSS wants the Congress to get some votes and defeat the AAP,” he said, asking voters not to fall for the trap.
In response, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Maken accused Kejriwal of playing a fixed match with the BJP. “I have said it before as well. There is a fixed match between the BJP and the AAP due to which people of Delhi suffer,” he said.
However, BJP MLA and leader of opposition in Delhi assembly, Vijender Gupta, hit out at Kejriwal for his ‘double speak’. “Actually, the AAP is furthering the Congress’s agenda. Arvind Kejriwal’s credibility is zero. That’s why he is making such statements,” he said.
At a Residents’ Welfare Association meeting in Akshardham, Kejriwal said, “If AAP had seven MPS from Delhi, the BJP government in the Centre wouldn’t have been able to hike Metro fares. We would not have let them unleash the sealing drive. I urge you not to repeat the mistake made in 2014. AAP is the only party that has worked for your welfare,” he maintained.
