Woman dies, brother critical as bus rams their scooter in Ggm

GURUGRAM: A 19-year-old woman was killed while her brother was left severely injured when a rashly driven Haryana Roadways bus collided with their nongeared scooter on the Gurugram- Sultanpur Road on Saturday morning.

The woman, who was dragged for 50-60 metres, suffered fatal head injuries and died on the spot. Her brother was rushed to Thakral Nursing Home in Sector 11, where he was operated upon. He is recuperati­ng now.

The siblings were identified as Mansi Yadav, a second-year college student, and Ishu Yadav (17). They live in Silani Gate area of Jhajjar. Their family said Mansi had left home around 7am to see a doctor in Naharpur, Manesar, and her brother, a polytechni­c student, was riding pillion.

“My children left home around 7am and I received a call from the police at 8am saying they had met with an accident. We rushed to the spot where we were told that my daughter was no more,” Mukesh Yadav, father of the deceased, said.

Eyewitness­es said the bus driver was rash and lost control over the vehicle. Police said the driver, who is yet to be identified, fled the spot, leaving his vehicle behind. Raids are being conducted to arrest him, police said.

DCP (Manesar) Rajesh Kumar said they have recorded statements of the eyewitness­es and booked the bus driver under IPC sections 337 (hurt by act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others), 279 (rash driving), 427 (damage) and 304-A (death by negligence).
