GURUGRAM: The condition of mother of the 33-year-old victim of Tulip Orange society fire in Sector 69 worsened on Tuesday, with neighbours saying that she suffered a cardiac arrest.

On Tuesday, residents of Tower B 6, which caught fire, remained without electricity since 2.15 am on Monday and were staying at their friends and relatives’ place.

“The condition of Swati’s mother, Vaishali, has worsened. She was put on a ventilator last night and had a sudden cardiac arrest around 3 pm today. Thankfully, doctors were able to revive her, and since then, she has been on a ventilator in the ICU,” said Aashish K Sharma, a resident of Tulip Orange society, who is close to the family, and had taken Vaishali to the Park Hospital in Sector 47, on Monday morning.

“She is diabetic, asthmatic and also suffers from high blood pressure. Apart from suffering from minor burn injuries, she also faced several complications due to the smoke, and has been having respiratory problems,” said Aashish.

Swati Garg, an i nterior designer, died after a fire broke out in the electrical metre of tower B6 on the ground floor, spreading upwards through the electrical shaft, and engulfing the staircase area in smoke in the process. Firefighters found her lying unconscious near the terrace door almost an hour after the blaze started.

Her body’s post-mortem was conducted on Monday afternoon, and her body handed over to the family. “Her family members, including her husband and fouryear-old daughter, have gone to Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, where her last rites will be carried out,” said Aashish.

The tower has been without power since the fire broke out.

“There has been no power in the tower since the fire broke out and as such, no resident is currently staying inside the tower. I have been staying at my friend’s house in another tower in Tulip Orange, along with my two children and my husband. I got a call from the management, and they informed me that they are reinstalling power lines in my flat and that electricity will be restored by tomorrow morning,” said Alka Kumari, a resident of the tower who lives on the eight floor. “Depending on the power situation, we will take a call on moving back home on Wednesday,” she said.

The developer Tulip Infratech said that they are working towards restoring power in the tower. “The work to restore power supply is on the full swing and more than 100 workers are working at the site, so that power supply can be restored as soon as possible,” said the spokesperson for Tulip Infratech.
