THE SIGNALLING FAULT WAS SPOTTED AT THE PATEL CHOWK METRO STATION AND THE AFFECTED TRAIN WAS REMOVED FIVE STATIONS AHEAD AT GREEN PARK, METRO OFFICIALS SAID

NEW DELHI: The services on the Samaypur Badli-huda City Centre corridor of the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line were affected for over an hour on Wednesday due to a technical snag in a train.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials said that a train on the line developed some signalling issue, following which it had to be removed from operation. The train’s removal caused bunching on the line leading to delays, the DMRC officials said.

The signalling fault was spotted at the Patel Chowk Metro station and the affected train was removed five stations ahead at Green Park, the offi- cials said.

“A train developed some signalling issue at around 11.20am at Patel Chowk station going towards Huda City Centre. As a result, the train was withdrawn from services at the Green Park station at around 12pm,” a DMRC spokesperson said.

Though the issue was resolved by noon, commuters complained of delays till 12.30pm. The officials said that this was a result of bunching, which was normalised in a few minutes. “This (the technical snag) resulted in bunching of trains on the down line (towards Huda City Centre) during this period as trains moved with restricted speed between Patel Chowk and Green Park stations,” the spokesperson said.
