Man held for ‘raping’ 19-year-old for 3 yrs

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old woman accused her 25-year-old neighbour of allegedly stalking and raping her several times over the last three years, uploading her objectionable videos on social media, the police said on Friday.

In her complaint, the woman also alleged that 25-year-old used to blackmail her with the videos and forced her to come to a hotel in Paharganj and a flat in Bara Hindu Rao where he used to rape her. A case was registered on September 30 at the Sadar Bazar police station.

“We registered a case under sections 354D (stalking), 376 (rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and 67 of Information Technology (IT) Act. The accused has been arrested,” said Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (north).

A police officer, associated with the case, said the woman works in a private company.

The woman in her complaint alleged that her neighbour started harassing her in 2014 and he used to follow her to school, the officer, who was not authorised to brief the media, said. She said he allegedly threatened that he would disfigure her face with acid and would kill her father if she refused his advances.

In January 2015, the man allegedly forced her to meet him in a park and then recorded her objectionable videos and pictures, the woman claimed in her complaint.

“He then started blackmailing her and used to take her to a hotel and a flat to repeatedly rape her. Her sexual exploitation continued till June 2017 when she decided not to succumb to his intimidations as she started refusing to meet him. Angered, he then sent the videos to her family and also posted them on social media,” the officer said, quoting her complaint.
