NEWDELHI: The Delhi Police have arrested four men, two of them murder convicts, for allegedly robbing an elderly woman at gunpoint, on October 22, in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar.

The police said the four men had entered the woman’s house on the pretext of inviting her to a wedding. A woman — the landlady of one of the four accused and the old woman’s neighbour — has also been arrested.

The New Ashok Nagar police station had, on October 22, received information that a woman had been robbed by four men in her house, additional deputy commissioner of police (east), Jasmeet Singh, said. Soon, a police team was sent to the woman’s house. The woman told the police that two men entered her house around 2.30pm, held her at gunpoint, and robbed her of ₹50,000 and some jewellery.

“The men also assaulted her and warned her against calling the police. A case of robbery has been registered, and, during probe, the police found CCTV camera footage which helped identify the suspects. The men have been identified as Pawan (30), Jugnu (37), Raj Kumar (48) and Vicky (32),” Singh said.

While Pawan has been involved in a case of murder, in Seemapuri in Delhi, Jugnu has 27 cases of snatching, as well as under the Arms Act, registered against him, officials said. Raj Kumar too has a case of murder registered against him, Singh added.
